Jan Jansen, from "Breestede," (Bredstedt), came over to New Netherland with his parents, Jan Jansen and Engellje Jans, and his three sisters, Elsje, Dorothea and Tryntie Jans, in 1636.
Jan Jansen married, November 1, 1647, in New Amsterdam, Marritje Lucas (Andries), by whom he had six children, who were born and baptized in New Amsterdam.
Jannetje was baptized July 19, 1648; Wouter, December 25, 1650; Johannes. October 27, 1652; Engel, November 29, 1654; Pieter, June 15, 1656; Simon, February 10, 1658.
