| Hans Kierstede, from Magdeburg, was one of the earliest surgeons and physicians in New York. As early as 1638 he held the position of official surgeon of the West India Company. He married, June, 1642, at New Amsterdam, Sara Roelofs , daughter of the Norwegian couple, Roelof Jansen and Annetje Jans. |
